Escape the bustling crowds of Amsterdam.
Kanteen25, also known as the living room of the Marineterrein, is located in a historic spot close to the city center. With its breathtaking views of the water, NEMO, and the Maritime Museum, this place is a hidden gem in the city.
What was once used as a general canteen for naval officers in the 1960s, where different ranks could socialize, is now a beautiful venue for various occasions.
Whether you're enjoying the terrace view, hosting a (corporate) event, having drinks with friends, or spending your weekend with family while your taste buds are delighted by our seasonal dishes, it's all possible! Everyone is welcome at Kanteen25.
The Marineterrein is a historic location. Before Building 025 became Kanteen25, it was designated for something else.
The building was manned by non-commissioned officers in the 1960s. Upstairs was the sleeping area, and downstairs served as a meeting place for the different ranks of naval officers.. Rank differences played a significant role in the military, and accommodations were strictly segregated. Therefore, it was quite remarkable that Building 025 was open to different ranks to socialize together at that time. The bar on the ground floor was nicknamed the 'All Ranks Bar', and the building became known as 'The Golden Ball' in the late 1960s.
